Margaret was born in 1884. She is the daughter of Nelson Wright and Mary Kean.

In 1891, at the age of 7, Margaret is living at 48 Elgin Street, in Camlachie, Lanarkshire, with her parents Nelson age 30, Mary age 27, and her siblings, Nelson age 11, Mary age 9, Henry age 5, William age 3 and Catherine age 1.

In 1901, at the age of 17, Margaret is living at 26 Armone Street, in Dennistoun, Lanarkshire, with her parents Nelson age 41, Mary age 38, and her siblings, Nelson age 21, Mary age 19, Henry age 15, Catherine age 10, John age 8, Henrietta age 6, James age 4 and Sarah age 9 months.
