John Norton Wright was born the 26th of September1720, and Christened on the 15th of October 1720 at Westminister, London England to John Wright and Penelope Wright.[1]
John Wright, his wife, Penelope, daughter, Elizabeth, and son, John Norton Wright, sailed on the Ship Ann from Gravesend in England on Friday, the 17th of November, 1732 for the new Colony of Georgia arriving on the 1st of February 1733.[2]
According to journal of the Earl of Egmont, John Norton was age 13 when he arrived in Georgia, and while in Georgia he became a Tythingman, a jailor, and messenger to the President and assistants.[3] The journal also recorded his father, John, died in December of 1737, and his mother, Penelope, remarried one Joseph Fitzwalter.
On the 13th of Dec 1741, Jo. Milledge and Jo. Norton Wright petitioned each for 500 acres on Whitmarsh Island, but are refused, having no substance wherewith to coltivate their lotts.[4]
John Norton Wright of Savannah in the Colony of Georgia Freeholder wrote his Last Will and Testament on the 29th of January 1749 leaving all his real and personal estate to his mother, Penelope Fitwalter, and naming her as sole Executrix.[5] No recording date was given for the will. It appears he never married, and had no children.
