MRS. SARAH LOCKREY

The death took place on Friday evening last of a very old and respected resident of the district in the person of Mrs. Sarah Lockrey, which occurred at her residence, at Gollan, after a brief illness. The deceased, who was the relict of the late Mr. Richard Lockrey, had attained the age of 80 years, and was a native of St. Mary's. After residing at Parramatta for some time, she went to Richmond, where she married. With her late husband she went to Bathurst, and eventually came to the Wellington district, and settled at Gollan in 1887, where the husband successfully followed farming pursuits until he died many years ago. About three weeks ago the late Mrs. Lockrey contracted pleurisy, and this complaint was merely the beginning of the end. She is survived by a grown-up family, the sons being Messrs William, Richard and James, all of Gollan. The daughters are Mrs. Arthur Hubbard (Maryvale), Mrs. T. A. Hubbard (Gunnedah), Mrs. Longhurst (Mortlake) and the Misses Sarah and Elizabeth, of Gollan. The remains were encased in a polished maple casket, silver mounted, and laid to rest in the Baptist portion of the Wellington cemetery, the services at the graveside being read by the Rev. J. Hunter.
