Biography

Henry Wyatt was born about 1647 in Virginia, the son of Susannah R. (Baynham) and George Wyatt (b: 12 Dec 1619 James City Co, VA).

George returned to England with his parents where he was educated. [1]

George and his brother Edward Wyatt probably came to Virginia with their uncle, Sir Francis, when he returned for his second term as governor, 1639-1642. George then settled at Middle Plantation in Virginia, where he was a supporter of the Established Church. [1]

George patented lands in James City County in 1645. He was referred to as a cooper. [2]

George Wyatt married Susanna sometime before November 1659. In 1661 he was residing in York County.

George had one son, Henry Wyatt. [3]

George died by January 1672 when Henry sold 50 acres of land adjacent to the palisade at Middle Plantation which he had inherited from his father, George Wyatt.

After marrying Alice, Henry is recorded as being a vestryman at St.Peters Church in New Kent County, Virginia and died without children. [3]

Several paragraphs in this profile's biography cited Douglas Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry. Those citations have been removed. The WYATT chapter in Magna Carta Ancestry (volume IV, pages 375-384) covers the ancestry of brothers Francis and Hawte Wyatt. While it lists George Wyatt as one of Hawte and Barbara (Mitford) Wyatt's sons, there are no further details about him. [4]

Just pointing out due to the names on this profile........According to the "Genealogical Memoranda Relating to Richard Wyatt of Hall Place, Shackleford- Citizen and Carpenter of London" by Edward Basil Jupp, in addition to family records of that Wyatt branch, they report a Henry Wyatt m. Alse Bradbridge in 1641, and they had a son Henry born 11 July 1647. These Henry Wyatts are related to Wyatts of Horsted Keynes & Godalming who stem from Slindon, Sussex.

So, if this Henry's profile shows he had no children, and the profile bio of this Henry's father also shows this Henry died childless, and they are both allegedly sourced, WHERE DID THESE CHILDREN COME FROM? Either the bios are incorrect, or these children do not belong here without legitimate sources.

Warning: Check the data.
  • A father's death date (Wyatt-567 died 1705) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Wyatt-780 born 1762) .
  • A father's birth date (Wyatt-567 born 1647) should not be more than 100 years before the birth date of one of his children (Wyatt-780 born 1762) .
  • A parent (Wyatt-567 born 1647) should not have been born more than 170 years before one of their children died (Wyatt-780 died 1845) . This would mean that even if the parent gave birth at 70, the child lived to be over 100.
  • A parent's death date (Wyatt-567 died 1705) should not be more than 120 years before one of their children died (Wyatt-780 died 1845). This would mean the child lived to be over 120.

Looks like these issues remain, if you need help, the US Southern Colonies project is a good place to start.

Wyatt-1630 and Wyatt-567 appear to represent the same person because: same birth, both have wives named Alice, no sources to support differing data on Wyatt-1630

There was no bio here at all. I am working in what looks like a bad merge for the father, George. I am reading the primary sources but just started.

It looks as if there may be some people attached that do not belong. I will do more research.

According to Jamestown Society Washington & Northern Virginia Company, Biographies of Ancestors of Members: Hawte Wyatt Henry died without children.

Agreed. I believe this the brother of Richard Wyatt, who was the husband of Catherine Tunstall, and that this Henry and Richard are tied to the line of Major William Wyatt and not Haute. Two different Wyatt lines with different Y-DNA.

"From the notes of Gene Rook: His (Richard Wyatt's) brother Henry's death in 1704, he entered suit against his widow, Alice, as guardian and prochein emi of Henry Wyatt, his son, and legatee of Henry Wyatt, late of New Kent Co. Apparently the legacy in question was 800 acres in Charles City Co. shown for Alice in the 1704 Virginia Quit Rent rolls. The 1704 Quit Rent Rolls also show a Richard Wyatt of King & Queen Co. with 1843 acres. Capt. Richard Wyatt of King and Queen County, Va executed a bond in 1705,, which shows on the reverse side the words of the clerk "Capt. Richard Wyatt's bond, etc." The only Capt. Richard Wyatt in Va. in 1705, was the one in King and Queen Co. From the files of Jody Sizemore: Essex Co. Wills and Deeds 1714 1717, page 41.11 April 1712 - 486 acres in Essex Co. bounded by land of Robert and John Pleas and that of Capt. Richard Wyatt. This land being part of a patent granted to Mr. George Morris and John Long 29 Sept., 1667. It is also bordering the land of Katherine Long, now wife of Capt. Richard Wyatt, and was by deed of gift made by George Morris transferred to Thomas Pettit and Katherine Long, now the wife of Capt. Richard Wyatt. A Westmoreland County, Virginia land record included the following information: "Section 64, Various Persons, Bond and Affidavit, 1706-1719. This section consists of a bond, among other items, date 1706, of Richard Barnhouse, George Clough, and Richard Wyatt to Mrs. Alice Wyatt (as executrix of Henry Wyatt; witnessed by Richard Littlepage and Gideon Macon and bears affidavit of George Clough"

Furthermore, the name Richard Barnhouse who was mentioned in my previous post as a bondsman alongside Richard Wyatt to Henry's widow, Alice, has large significance to the tangled Wyatt's of VA at this time. According to "Old New Kent County [Virginia]: Some Account of the Planters, Plantations, and Places Volume II" by Malcolm Hart Harris, Major William Wyatt was granted 400 acres of land in 1653 "next to the lands of Richard Barnhouse". The same book further accounts that in 1669 William Wyatt was granted additional lands "that laid west of the land of Mr. Barnhouse".
