All Census records give David's year of birth as 1841. His hand carved tombstone gives his birth date as May 30, 1842. [1] The 1841 date is most likely correct. He was the youngest child of John Wyatt and Elizabeth Raines, he was living with them in 1850 [2] and 1860 [3]
David had a relationship with Phoebe Ann Smith and she bore his child, Robert Lee Smith, on September 30, 1864. [4] He later married Mary Rodeman on May 24, 1866 in Randolph County. [5][6] Note: this latter record has a transcription error, citing their year of marriage as 1856, not 1866.
He and Mary lived in Dryfork in Randolph County per Census of 1870 [7] and 1880. [8] There he worked as a farmer and they raised their family. Their children were:
Ursula Jane
Elizabeth Pasco
William Martin
Jacob Albert
Martha Alice
Mary Catherine
Per David's hand carved tombstone he died on February 27, 1892. He is buried in the Cooper-Wyatt Cemetery in Wymer, Randolph County, West Virginia. [1]
