Research Notes

Thomas Wiatt was the son of John Wiatt , and named as a legatee and executor of John’s Rowan County will dated 5 November 1815. Rebecca Wiatt was a daughter of Noah Park, named as one of the legatees in Noah’s Rowan County will dated 5 April 1801. Thomas Wiatt and Rachel Parks were married 12 June 1793 in Rowan County. Thomas Wiatt (age 26 and under 45) was head of household in Rowan County in the 1800 census that included a female, (age 26 and under 45). There were no children in the household. That is not consistent with William W. Wyatt’s reported 1799 birth date and Kentucky birthplace.

Find a grave memorial #47125301 indicates William W Wyatt was born in Kentucky in 1799 and died in Greene County, Illinois in 1839. Several ancestry. com family trees indicate Thomas Edward Wiatt and Mary Susanna Needham were the parents of William W Wyatt. Mary Wyatt, age 72, was listed on microfilm census page 296b of the 1850 census of Morgan County, Illinois.

Many ancestry.com family trees indicate John Parks and Ann Toney were the parents of several children, including Rachel. Rachel’s spouse was not identified if she married.

The Wilkes County will of John Parks was probated in 1795. One of the legatees was Rachel. She was identified as Rachel Parks, indicating that she was single. If correct, she was not the Rachel Parks that married Thomas Wiatt in 1893.
