There is a Find A Grave Memorial for Solomon Wyatt which claims he was born on April 7, 1773 in Louden County, Virginia and died in 1840 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. However, there is no tombstone, his burial details are unknown, and there are no sources. [1]
He was left a bequest in the will of his father John Wyatt, written in Franklin County, Virginia on April 6, 1796. He received 70 acres of land with the proviso that he give 14 pounds to his two youngest sisters. The will lists the names of his mother, brothers and sisters. [2]
Solomon married Hannah Reese on June 14, 1797 in Franklin County, Virginia. Their marriage bond was posted on June 12, and one of the signatories was Edward Wyatt. Officiating over their marriage was John Wyatt, Minister. Of note is that on the same page of marriage records is a union between Thomas Wyatt and Mary Reece, both the signatory on the bond and the officiating Minister was John Wyatt, showing a close relationship between the couples as well as John Wyatt. [3]
Solomon and Mary moved on to Jefferson County, Tennessee. He was enumerated there in the 1830 Census, his household consisting of two males 10-14, one male 15-19, one male 30-39, one male 50-59, two females 20-29, one female 50-59, totaling eight people. [4]
There is a Solomon Wyatt in the 1840 Census in Jefferson County, but he is age 30-39. Solomon did have a son, Solomon, but he was purportedly born in 1815 which would make him 25 at the time of the 1840 Census. The household consisted of one male 20-29, one male 30-39, one female 20-29, one female 30-39 and one female 50-59. [5] It is thus unclear exactly who is in this household. However, there is no other Solomon Wyatt enumerated in the 1840 Census, implying that he had passed away by 1840 as his Find A Grave Memorial suggests.
