Elizabeth Wyche, a daughter of James Wyche and Elizabeth Briggs,[1] was born around 1720 in Sussex, Virginia Colony.[2] The Wyche family has behind it an impressive English lineage, including Magna Carta ancestry.[3]
Rebecca Johnson, b. 1747, m1. Edmund Jones, m2. Charles Lucas
Charlotte Johnson, b. 1748
Elizabeth Johnson, b. 1750, m1. _____ Davenport, m2. Charles Abernathy[6]
Nathaniel Johnson, b. 1762
Most, if not all, of their children were born in Virginia. Then they may have moved to North Carolina, where Elizabeth passed away around 1800.[citation needed]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
Two children named Elizabeth are attached to this profile, and there should only be one. Further research is needed before detaching one of them. So far, the only source I have is the Elizabeth with two spouses (Davenport and Abernathy) found on her father's profile (Johnson-44164); however, I don't see proof on the source offered there.
Hi Betty, can you tell me which source states that Elizabeth married Davenport and Abernathy? I have been unable to locate a source with (Davenport or Abernathy). I have found a source from the [William and Mary Quarterly] (pg 60) stating that she married a Johnson. The incorrect one needs to be identified before this can be corrected. If you find any other sources, your assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, for catching this.
Hi Laura, problem is... I cannot find a source that states she married Davenport and Abernathy. There probably is one, since it came from the profile of her father. But I do not see it on the source referenced there. The source you found on William and Mary Quarterly is for the mother Elizabeth, who married Johnson. I could remove the reference to Davenport and Abernathy, since I'm unable to source it, but that still doesn't solve the problem of two children named Elizabeth.
My mistake, I was looking for the mother instead of the daughters. I have not been able to find anything except the birth record that has been sourced on both the daughter's profiles and two possible marriage records. There is a marriage record for Elizabeth Davenport and Charles Abernathy. That does not say that she was a widow so it is unclear if Davenport was her birth name or the name from a previous marriage. I do not see anything for a marriage to a Malone either. I did find a marriage record for Elizabeth Johnson to Moses Hicks in 1786 in Virginia. There seems to have been a lot of confusion and tangling with this line. There does not appear to be any information that I have found that has Elizabeth Johnson in Virginia during this time period marrying either an Abernathy, Davenport, or a Malone. There is a source listed that is linked to an unsourced user tree and names her husband as Nathaniel Reames. There was an Elizabeth Johnson who married Nathaniel Reames but not until 1800, that is unlikely her. It may be something that should be asked in G2G. It could only increase the chance of possibly getting these two Elizabeth's straightened out.
As a volunteer on the U.S. Southern Colonists Project -- Carolinas Teams and Bio-Builders Team, I will be happy to write a biography for this profile. If it has been assigned to someone else, or if there is another team that should work on it, please let me know. Also, if anyone has suggestions or has knowledge of the life of Elizabeth Wyche, let me know that also. I will begin work on the biography in a few days if no one has any input that should change my direction.
Thanks Betty! I think that if someone were working on it, they would have posted as you have, but I'll leave the official response to David, since he leads the Team for Post-1700 Managed Profiles.
I checked the Richardson citations & I don't know why they are on this profile. She's several generations removed from the last mention of Wyches in Richardson (see Wyche-34). The FamilySearch family group sheet link appears to have been meant for him too (it's a dead link - see this comment on Space: DBE_962 if you want to try to find the family in the reorganized FS trees).
