I find it strange that Lyda is not included in the family in the 1775 or 1880 Census as she would be only 5 and 10 years old: 1880 US Census: Main Street, Sparta, Randolph, Illinois Robert C. Wylie 45, carpenter, b. NY; father/mother b. Scotland Nancy M 41, keeping house, b. IL; father b. Ireland/mother b. PA Edward N. 18 b. IL, apprentice carpenter Robert L. 15, b. IL Charles E. 9 b. IL
1900 US Cenus: 401 W. Broadway, Sparta, Randolph, IL Edward Burrill family Wylie, Lyda, 29, single, servant, b. Sep 7, 1870.
1910 US Census Lyda 36, single is living with mother Nancy M. 71 at 303 Main Street, Sparta, IL. occupation is housekeeper for private family., This census lists Lyda as daughter.
1920 US Census Lyda is living alone, 49, at 301 Main Street Sparta, IL. She owns and runs a rooming house. I don't think it the same house as in 1910, but perhaps one her father built as he built many of the houses on Main Street, especially the ones in which the Wylie family and relatives lived.
Lyda Wylie died of stroke in 1927. I cannot find a record of burial in Torrens, Wiechens/Wittenborn or Find A Grave. It is most likely she is buried with her mother and father, but they aren't in any records, either.
Note: Since Lyda doesn't show up in 1875 and 1880 census records, I wonder if she was born into another Wylie family and "came to live" with Nancy M. in 1920 as a care taker and the census taker took her to be the daughter. The 1900 Census for Robert C. and Nancy states that Nancy bore 4 children and 3 are living: John, Robert L, Edward N. and Charlotte. Charlotte died before 1900.
