Birth

Windham Thomas Wyndham-Quin was born on 12 February 1841. He was the son of Edwin Richard Wyndham-Quin and Augusta Gould.

Education

He was educated at Christ Church college of Oxford University

Titles

On the 6th of October 1871 he succeeded to the titles of:

  1. 4th Baronet Quin of Adare
  2. 2nd Baron Kenry
  3. 4th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl
  4. 4th Viscount Adare
  5. 4th Baron Adare
  6. 4th Viscount Mount-Earl

Honours

He was appointed to the Order of St. Patrick in 1872 as a Knight. He was appointed as a Privy Counsellor of Ireland in 1899. He was appointed to the Order of St. Michael and St. George in 1902 as a Companion.

Offices

He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Colonies between 1885 and 1887. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Limerick between 1896 and 1922.

Military Service

He served in the 1st Life Guards where he reached the rank of Lieutenant via purchase.
He fought both in the Abyssinian Expedition and in the Second Boer War
He gained the rank of Honorary Captain in the following units:
  1. The Royal Naval Reserve.
  2. The Glamorgan Royal Garrison Artillery.
  3. The 5th Battalion of the Royal Munster Fusiliers.
  4. The 23rd Armoured Car Company, Territorial Army.

Marriage

He married Florence Elizabeth Kerr on the 29th of April 1869.

Death

He died on 14 June 1926 at age 85
