Strickland married Martha Egbert[1] probably in Huntington County, Pennsylvania, where she was from. They settled there for a few years but then moved on to Columbus, Ohio, which was a mere hamlet at the time. Martha (Egbert) Wynkoop died about 1831 when her clothing caught fire[1] probably at their home in Columbus.
Strickland married Eliza Sandy, as his second wife, around 1833. They moved out of town in the Columbus area and raised the family.[1]
Strickland and Eliza moved to Wapello, Michigan, where Eliza died.[1]
Strickland moved back to Ohio and lived the rest of his days with his children.[1]
