Clarissa Wynn/Winn was born in 1765 in New Jersey.[1] or New York.[2] She may have been the daughter of Daniel Winne and Catharina Hoogteling,[3] but no records have been found to substantiate that theory. She may have lived in Staten Island; some members of her husband's family did live in New York during part of the American Revolution,[4] New York at some point in her early life.[5] She emigrated to New Brunswick, Canada with other "Loyalists" in about 1783. It is not know whether she married before or after emigration. She married Joel Daniel (1759-1807) and they had at least nine chldren between 1786 and 1803. In about 1815, she married John McLeod (1767-1855), in New Brunswick, Canada. The couple emigrated to Ontario in about 1819. She died on October 29, 1831, in Ontario, Canada, at the age of 66.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Clarissa by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Clarissa:
I think the mother (Hooghteling-1) currently connected on this profile is incorrect. Around the time of this woman's stated birth, Catharina Hoogteling was married and having children in Albany County, New York. It is not plausible that she had a baby during this time in either Staten Island, NY, or somewhere in New Jersey. Also, the last name of Wynn is not the same name as Winne (the final letter of which seems to have been pronounced), and not one that I have seen on Winne family church records from this time period.
Also, it is puzzling that this woman married Mr. Daniels in 1794, but had two of his children in 1786 and 1788.
Has the data here been checked against sources (sources other than family trees)?
