Housewife and collator in print works.
Daisy was born at Norton Lees, but was mainly brought up in Carbrooke, attending Salmon Pastures Intermediate School. She had passed for a Grammar School, but was not allowed to proceed, as the family could not afford books and uniform.
During the 2nd WW, Daisy worked in the Co-operative Store at the bottom of Barmouth Road, where she lived. She was then transferred to Laycock's Engineering Works, but managed to get another transfer to Loxley's Printers on Aizlewood Rd., where she continued after 1945, with a break for child-rearing. She married Ernest, the 'boy next door', and the two set up home at 687 Abbeydale Road.
In her forties she considered training as a teacher, but took not further action. In 1973-4, their home was purchased by the Council for an abortive road widening scheme, and they bought a house at the bottom of Dore in Sheffield's outer suburbs, costing £9,500. In retirement she took up an interest in photography with the Townswomen's Guild, and even after Ernest's death in 1987, she enjoyed about 15 years of holidaying with friends.
Eventually, she succombed to dementia, and died in care in 2008.
