Biography

Mary was born in Pennsylvania in about 1822. She married Andrew Sunday, Jr. 28 February 1843 in Berks County, Pennsylvania.[1] By 1850, they lived in Potter Township and had four children. His parents were also living with them. The 1850 census also indicates that she was illiterate.[2]

Twenty years lager, and they were living in Harris Township. The three youngest children were still living at home, as well as her eldest son and his wife.[3]

In 1879, when several of their children decided to move "out West" to Kansas, Andrew and Mary joined them, setting up house with their daughter Angeline and her family in Rooks County.[4][5]

Three years later, her husband passed away,[4] and she followed him a month later, on 25 October 1888.[6] She was about 66 years old. She was interred beside her husband in the Zurich Cemetery in Rooks County, Kansas.[7]

Research Notes

Her husband's obituary and the marriage/death certificates indicate that her LNAB was Fultz. FamilySearch lists a marriage between Andrew Sunday and Mary 'Poltz' with the right date and place, but the image itself is restricted to FHL-only viewing.

Also: her age at death, according to her obituary, makes her date of birth 21 February 1822. I have therefore left her birthdate imprecise.
