Biography

Laban Yager was born on 23 Apr 1797 in Madison, County Virginia, United States. He is the son of John Yager and Margaret Wilhoit. Laban Yager passed away on 23 Apr 1871 Madison County, Virginia, United States. Laban Yager/Yeager married at least twice and some say three times. He was in Kentucky by the 1840 census, and he married Frances Weaver on 3 Feb 1840 in Madison County, Virginia, United States. Laban was last found on the 1870 census in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Laban was thought to have had eight to ten children. His first wife was Sarah Carpenter, whom he married about 1817.

Know all men by these presents, that we Laban Yager and John W. Yager......are (tied?) and firmly bound unto Wilson (C. Nicholas is then crossed out, and an indistinguishable name inserted above) Esqr. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the (just?) and full sum of One hundred and fifty dollars to which payment well and truly to be made, to the said Governor and his successor in office, we bind ourselves jointly and severally firmly be these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 6th day of January 1817. The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above-bound Laban Yager and Sarah Carpenter, Now, if there be no lawful cause to object to the said marriage then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force. Sealed and delivered in the presence of Belfield Cave. (Signatures) Laban Yager (Seal) John W.
