Biography

"Hughe yale[1][2] sonne to M’r Doctor yale chamsler [sic, one too many minims] of Chester Bap’tus 31 octobris" 1597 at St. Oswald, Chester. Cheshire[3][4] David Yale's wife and the mother of his children was Frances Lloyd (abt.1553-1642).[1][2]

On 3 Aug 1601, Dr. David Yale conveyed the Erddig House estate to trustees: first to himself and wife Frances, as long as they lived, then to Thomas Yale, oldest son, and his male heirs. In default the property to go to each of the sons and their heirs in order, George Yale (second), David Yale (third), John Yale (fourth), Hugh Yale (fifth) and Richard Yale (sixth), thus establishing the names and birth order of their six oldest sons. [5]

Thomas, George, John, Hugh, Richard, Simon, Samuel, David, Dorythy, Ellyn, Alice, Catheryn, Francis and the child carried by his daughter Frances, the various children of David and Frances (Lloyd) Yale, were named and left bequests in the 1607 will of their maternal grandfather John Lloyd.[6]

"Hugh Yale my sonne" was named as one of the executors to his will by David Yale in 1625.[7][8]
