Biography

Mary was born in 1836. She was the daughter of Meredith Yancey and Elizabeth Allen. ^[1]

In 1850 Mary is 16 yeras old and she is found with her mother and siblings living with her maternal grandmother in Oxford, Granville North Carolina. Her father had died about 1836 while in Louisanna. ^[1]

She marries William O Bobbitt on 18 November 1857 in Granville, North Carolina when she was only 15 years old.. ^[2]

In 1860 Mary is found lving with her husband, and 2 children, Philmer and Etta who are 4 and 5 yeras old. The lvinge in Fishing Creek, Granville, North Carolina^[3]

In 1971 Mary is 34 yeras old and still living in Fishing Creek with her husaband and 2 children who are 14 and 15 years old now. ^[4]

In 1880 she and William are 46 and 60 years old and they are lving alone in Fishing Creek. Her husband is a farmer.^[5]

Mary C. Bobbitt's obit appears in the Oxford Public Leger on 5 Augus 1892 on page 3. "Wheras, it has pleased Almighty God to remove from us by death our esteemed and beloved sister Mary C. Bobbit of Fairport Alliance, No 532, Granville County, N.C, therefore, resolved. ....." ^[6]
