Zettie was born on July 27, 1904 at Almy in Scott County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Thomas Yancey and Martha Ann ( Phillips ) Yancey. She married James Franklin Sexton on February 7, 1920 in Scott County. Zettie passed away on Friday, June 8, 2001 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee.

Zettie Yancey Sexton, 96, of Powell, formerly of Oneida, died June 8, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. Born in Scott County, July 27, 1904, she was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Martha Phillips Yancey; her husband, Frank Sexton; two children, Gurnell Sexton, and James Frank (Junior) Sexton. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Powell. She is survived by three daughters, Reba Thompson and husband, Jamon, Rema Watters and husband, Kenneth, and Joyce Chitwood and husband, Eugene, all of Powell; one sister, Mabel Thompson of Huntsville; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, five greatgreat-grandchildren, and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted June 11, 2001, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Clarence Sexton officiating. Music was provided by Mike Fox. SEXTON, Mrs. ZETTIE YANCEY - age 96 of Powell, Tenn., formerly of Oneida, Tenn. passed away Friday, June 8 at the Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. Born in Scott County, Tenn. July 27, 1904, she was the daughter of the late THOMAS and MARTHA PHILLIPS YANCEY. Mrs. SEXTON had been living in Powell with her daughter and son in law, JOYCE and EUGENE CHITWOOD. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, FRANK SEXTON; and two children, GURNELL SEXTON and JAMES FRANK (Junior) SEXTON. She is survived by three daughters, REBA THOMPSON and husband, JAMON, REMA WATTERS and husband, KENNETH and JOYCE CHITWOOD and husband, EUGENE all of Powell; one sister, MABEL THOMPSON of Huntsville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Dr. CLARENCE SEXTON officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at the Sexton Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 until time of the funeral service at 7:30 p.m. at Jones & Son Funeral Home. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida is in charge.
