In 1841 Charles is 13 still living with his parents in Bishops Hull but he is working as servant.
In 1849 Charles married Frances Holmes in Taunton Somerset.
In 1851 he is 24 and still a servant but he is living at 3 Mountway Cottages, Bishops Hull with his 2 year old son Charles William and his 6 month old daughter Elizabeth. Also in the household is his younger brother Isaac (22). Charles wife is absent at the time of the census.
By 1871 the family have moved to Brighton. Charles is now a 43 year old cab driver living with his wife Francis (Fanny) and 5 children. The family lived at 14 Wood Street, Brighton. The property is also a green grocer in which his wife works. His eldest son is also a cab driver and his second son is a waiter.
In 1891, Charles is still working as a cab driver and is now living at 20 Frederick Gardens, Brighton. His household includes his wife Frances and a 16 year old boarder, Charles March.
