My first foray into genealogy began in 2010, during a Navy deployment, with my paternal grandfather's passing. Once that deployment ended, I ordered a DNA kit to make a connection with the side of my family that I only knew bits and pieces about, or at least I thought I did.
I'm still fairly new to all this, but a distant cousin that found me on my maternal side has been helpful in teaching me a bit more about researching lineage and finding records.

- I am looking to put together a history of the Charles family. Surnames that run alongside are Harris, Stokes, and Taylor. They are predominantly in New Orleans, Louisiana, US.
- My Yates family as far back as I've traced began in Cayman Islands with Salisbury Yates emancipation and migration to Roatán. The line is in Honduras beginning with my paternal 2nd great grandfather, Joseph Yates through my grandfather Asheley Mack Yates, Sr. From there it spread to Belize, the US, and other countries I have yet to verify. I'm looking for other holders of and/or those connected to the Yates surname in Central America, the Caribbean, and the U.S. to connect the full lineage.
