BSA Police Crest

Birth & Upbringing: Born 1958 in Marandellas.
Education: He was schooled in Bulawayo at Milton Boys High School. [1] .
Military Service: The BSA Police was very much a para-military service and was the nation's first line of defense. Young policemen were thus thrust into armed conflict during the insurgency of the late 1960s and the decade which followed. Those who appear on the BSA Police Roll of Honour (War) are afforded full military honours in this Roll of Honour in the military sense.
Occupation: Policeman - joined the BSA Police in May 1976; Reg. No. 9625; served until March 1977. John became a cadet in the BSAP, during which time he was stationed at Hillside, Bulawayo. After subsequently passing out from Morris Depot, he was posted to Mzilikazi before he was transferred to Beitbridge.
Demise: Killed in action, aged 19, vehicle ambush at Pande Mine while serving as a Patrol Officer with Duty Uniform in Beit Bridge District (Operation Repulse).[2] [3]. He was travelling in a two-vehicle convoy when terrorists initiated the ambush from both sides of the road with RPD machine guns. John was on Ground Coverage duties at the time, and was lured into the ambush by false information from locals [4]
Burial: His funeral service took place at Bulawayo on 31 March 1977.
