Biography

Joseph was born in 1844. He passed away in 1916.

He was the eldest son of Judge Joseph St.John Yates of Wellbank, Sandbach, Cheshire and Emily Augusta, 4th daughter of David Scott of Brotherton, Kincardins. He was called to the Bar in 1869 and became a Q.C. in 1893. Recorder of Salford 1889-1094 and J.P. for Manchester 1894-1916. He lived at Buglawton Hall, Congleton, Cheshire and was married on the 29th May 1873, to Wilhelmina Elizabeth, eldest daughter of William Henry Wylde of Sulhamstead, Chiswick, London.
