Roy Lee Yates was born on Dec 18, 1904 in Citra Indian Territory. He was the son of English Arwine Yates and Mary Ann Morris. Roy married first to Florence Ada Talbot in 1927. He married second to Mary Myrtle Stewart in 1932 and third to Viola Mae Clanton in 1969. He passed away on Jan 22, 1991 in Holdenville Oklahoma and was laid to rest in Citra Cemetery in Hughes County Oklahoma.

Roy Yates, of 423 N. Arnold, died in the Holdenville General Hospital Tuesday at the age of 86.
Fuyneral services will be in the Hudson Chapel, at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Larry Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Citra Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 18. 1904, in Citra, Indian Territory. He was reared in the Citra community and attended Citra schools. He began farming as a young adult. He married Myrtle Stewart in 1932, and Viola Savage in 1968. He retired in 1958 and moved from Citra to Holdenville in 1970.
Survivors include his wife Viola Mae of the home; one daughter. Lillie and Ralph Collard of Madera, Califronia; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Roy J. and Joyce Yates of Holdenville, Waymon and Betty Yates of Bakersfield, California, Harold and Joan Yates of Independence, Kansas, Chester Lee Yates of Madera, California, and Richard Yates of Holdenville; 25 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren, and three great-great grand-children.
