He was a solicitor. .
The family went to live in Australia around 1847, settling in Goulburn. He was the son of Rabbi Benjamin (Ben) Eliyakim Goetz of Strelizt. His father was sometimes referred to as 'The first Rabbi of Liverpool'.
He is buried in Goulburn Jewish Cemetery, Goulburn, New South Wales.
