Descendant of Col John Pitts.

Lula was born in 1907, the oldest of 4 children to William Reuben Yawn Sr and Mary Ida Selph. Her siblings were: Henry Sr, Mammie Lila, and Gladys Inez; her 7 half-siblings were: Julia Fannin, William Jake, Mary Ann, Bettie, Lucy, Sam, and Reuben Jr.
