Research Notes

I've read through this material to see, what if any, referrences were made to the Yost family. It mentions that Elizabeth was the daughter of Francis and Barbara Yost, and refers to her as another Virginian ( as was Sebilla ). Henry and Sebilla were married in Woodstock , Shenandoah Co., Va., and it seems to me that I recall Yosts being among the members of Zion Pines Lutheran Church, in Shenandoah Co. Almost all of that churches records are available online, through the Shenandoah Co. web site, so you might want to check it out.

There's also a record of one of Henry and Sebilla's children , Martha Ann, marrying a Peter Yost on 1-15-1819. Who he belongs to, and how he fits into all of this, I have no idea, but if you're like me, every little bit of information helps. Also, in some of this information, it's indicated that family lore has it that Sebilla and Elizabeth were cousins--maybe that explains why Elizabeth would name her first child, Sebilla.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Betsey by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Betsey:

Hello there! It looks like our research is overlapping and I might be able to help you with how Martha Ann Lonas (wife of Peter Yoast) is related to Elizabeth Yoast here. From what I understand from what I'm seeing on Find a Grave, it seems Peter and Elizabeth are siblings and Elizabeth married Martha Ann Lonas' father, Henry. So Elizabeth was Martha Ann's sister-in-law as well as step-mother! Took a little while to work out in my head, did they want to confuse us?! :P
