Biography

Joseph Joder was a farmer, schoolteacher, philosopher, linguist, scholar, and poet. He was a thorough student of both English and German, and learned Latin, Greek, and Hebrew after the age of forty. He was raised Mennonite but had liberal religious views, expressed through his poetry, which show that Joder was a Universalist (a believer in universal salvation). He was considered by many to be eccentric but brilliant - possibly a genius.
