George “Bill” York
YORK, George William – Age 59, of Winston, passed away Friday, December 19, 1997. He was born February 27, 1938 in Montour, Idaho, son of Richard and Avis (McConnell) York. He was raised in Idaho. He graduated from Oregon State University, and received his teaching credentials from Albertson's College of Idaho. He returned to Oregon State for three years of graduate work in Forestry. He taught school for three years in McCall, Idaho and three years in Lebanon, Oregon. He worked as a registered Forester in the state of California for six years. He moved to the Winston area in the 1980's. He volunteered in different area organizations including the library and senior center, where he was known for his musical ability. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and running. He also enjoyed his community. He is survived by: a brother, Frank York of Boise, Idaho; three sons, Scott, Kenneth and Matthew York and one daughter, Yohanna York, all residents of Nevada; his mother, Avis McConnell of Emmett, Idaho. He was married to Tonita Mathews on September 1, 1962. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard and two brothers, Andrew and James York. A Memory Service will be held for Bill at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 1997 at TAYLOR'S FAMILY CHAPEL in Winston.
