Biography

Sarah York was born 20 Oct 1787 at Stonington, Connecticut, the eighth child of John York and Keturah Brown.

She married 15 Mar 1810 Thomas Prentice. Soon after marriage they migrated from Stonington to the new community of Norwich, New York, hacked out of the woodland wilderness after the American Revolutionary War. It was established and populated by migrant families mostly from eastern Connecticut. This Prentice family and others who inhabited southern central New York State found better agricultural soils and growing conditions than they had relinquished along the coastal periphery of New England. They had 6 children as profiled herein.

Sarah "Sally" (York) Prentice passed away 24 July 1874 at Norwich, New York.
