Biography

Leonard York, the son of Henry York and Margaret Lenderman, was born 29 January 1804, Wilkesboro, Wilkes, North Carolina, and died 22 June 1882, Grove Township, Davis, Iowa.

He was mentioned in the 1817 will of his father.[1]

Leonard married Susannah Lendermann (1807-1886) on 10 May 1827, Vigo, Indiana.[2]

On the 1870 Census of Grove, Davis, Iowa: Leonard was 66 years old and his wife Susannah C. was 63.[5]

1880 Census of Davis, Iowa:[6] Leonard and his wife were living in the household of their son Anderson York.
