Biography

Joshua Young was born on 27 September 1704 in Scituate, Plymouth, Province of Massachusetts Bay, the son of Thomas and Sarah (White) Young.[1][2]

He married Elizabeth Cudworth on 22 August 1732 in Scituate.[3] Elizabeth was living on 10 November 1748 when she released her dower rights. [4] Their son Joshua named his second child "Elizabeth Cudworth Young."[5]

Joshua Young of Scituate, saddler, sold land of his father Thomas late of Scituate on 11 May 1733 to Joseph Young.[6]

In 1737, Joshua signed a receipt for his share of his father's estate.[7]

He also sold land to Thomas Merritt on 10 November 1748 with Elizabeth, wife of Joshua, giving up her dower right.[8]

Joshua married, secondly, Lydia Barnard on 11 December 1751 in Boston.[9] She was born about 1706 and died on 29 September 1793, age 87, and was buried in Scituate.[10] There were no children of this marriage.[2]

Joshua died in Scituate before 29 October 1757, the date that a bond was posted by Thomas Young of Scituate as guardian to Joshua Young, minor son of Joshua Young late of Scituate deceased. Joseph Young was surety on the bond.[11] No probate records are found for Joshua in Plymouth County.[2]
