Biography
Birth
Rediford H. Young was born in 1869. He was the son of James B. Young and Sarah Catherine (Wise) Young.
Marriage
Rediford H. Young and Mattie (Elliott) Young married.
Children
Rediford H. Young and Mattie (Elliott) Young had no children on the 1920, 1930 and 1940 Census.
- Charles E. Helmick, son of Andrew Martin and Mary Elizabeth (Russell) Helmick, was listed as a foster son on the 1950 Census. He was 7 on the 1920 Census. When he came to live with them is unknown. His obituary stated that he was raised by a family in Staunton.[1]
Death
Rediford H. Young passed away on June 2, 1949 in Swoope, Pastures District, Augusta, Virginia at the age of 79.[2] He was buried on June 4, 1949 in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville, Augusta, VA.[3] According to the Young Family Bible, his name was spelled Relaford Hensil Young and he was born December 6, 1869. (I have personally heard several discussions over the years regarding the spelling of his name, Suzanne (Wilkins) Wagstaff, 2023)
