He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I and was employed by Nekoosa Papers, Inc. for many years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Bonduel Veterans of Foreign Wars and Nekoosa American Legion. He was also an active hobby farmer most of his life and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Henry died on September 20, 1997, at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Adams, Wisconsin aged 100, where he had resided the past five years.[3][5]
