Biography

Abraham was born in 1763. He is the son of Johann Young and Maria Emmerich.

Abraham had a son with unknown wife,

  1. Uriah Smith Young (1789-1842)

Abraham married Annatje (Arend) Winne, daughter of Arend Winne and Annatje Langendyck, on 31 Jan 1790, in New York. This was probably his second marriage.[1]

Research Notes

Abraham Joung and his brother Jeremiah Joung wives are both named Annatje Winne. The women are cousins. Abraham's wife Annatje is daughter of Arend Winne and Jeremiah's wife Annatje is daughter of Laurens Winne. Arend and Lourens each named a daughter after their mother Annatje Merkle Winne.

Some think Abraham had a brother also named Abraham who was born in 1763 and passed away in 1764. And that this Abraham was born in 1864. Abraham and his twin Catharina were baptised 8 May in 1863. Their sister Christina was baptised 1 Aug 1865. It seems unlikely that another child was born between these baptisms. No baptisms recorded in 1864 for a child to Jurrian Joung.[9]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:

Hi Patricia - It appears that there were two Abrahams. One who died in infancy and the other who died in 1820. It seems that the two profiles were merged together in error. They should each have their own profiles.

Thanks, Susan
