Uncle Archie ran away from home at age 16, Joined the US Army as Archibald Peterson in Texas. Fought in the Spanish American War in the Philipines. Owned a bar and grill called the Silver Dollar. Contracted malaria and went to San Francisco. Doctor said to throw his pills away and go to the south tip of the Baja in Mexico. In Loreto, BCS he met a young Mexican school teacher, Altagracia Garcia. They married in 1911 and had 6 children. Archie returned home for a visit around 1911 to visit family and a family photo was taken. He stayed in touch with his siblings but never returned home again. He was importing spices from the Philipines with a friend and the raised cattle in the LaPaz area of the Baja.Archie died in Chulah Vista, California in 1963. I remember my grandfather Harvey Young going to his funeral.
