The hidden meanings of Finding Forrester
This is a story about a boy who lives in the Bronx and has immense writing skills, but no direction. Jamal Wallace (Rob Brown) helps a man commonly known as the window realize and over come his fears of leaving his home.
I enjoyed this film due to its great usage of cinematography among other things. It is viewed greatly its zoom ins such as when Jamal Wallace looks up and William Forrester (Sean Connery) down, it created the perfect dramatic effect that allows you to foreshadow without really letting you know what’s happening and leaves you guessing.
I believe that the theme in this movie is that no matter what happens you should follow your dreams. This is shown in the movie by Jamal helping William follow his dream of returning to his home land. Jamal learns in the process that not everything is as it seems and people are not always as they appear.
I believe that the lighting crew did a wonderful job of creating contrast from beginning to end such as; in the beginning every thing was darker and unknowing just like Jamal’s And Williams relationship but as Jamal and William started to know each other better the amount of lighting increased as if they were spreading light over their friendship and so creating a brighter image throughout the movie.
