Veteran of World War I.

William Nelson Young was born 27 Jan 1900 in Mankato, Minnesota to Arthur Edgar Young and Myrtle Dell Mills. He was the second child and first son.

William married Florence Harriett Booth 5 Jun 1922 in Mount Vernon, Grant County, Oregon. They had three children: William Nelson Young, Evelyne Ophelia Young, and Richard "Dickie" Arthur Young (who died 14 Feb 1939 when he was eight years old).

William died on his 62nd birthday, 27 Jan 1962, in Eugene, Oregon.

William Nelson Young of Yachats, Oregon died January 27, 1962. He was born January 27, 1900 in Mankato, Minnesota. He was a retired supervisor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a graduate of Oregon State College; a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity; Veteran of World War I; member of the American Legion; member of Heyburn Lodge No. 46 A.F.&A.M., of Heyburn, Idaho; and Burley Lodge No. 1384 B.P.O.E. of Burley, Idaho. Survived by his wife, Florence H. Young; a daughter, Evelyne O. Rice of Spokane, Washington; a son, William N. Young, Jr., of Salem, Oregon; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Ruth Beck of Corvallis, Oregon; Irene Froneck, Sunnyside, Washington; a brother, D. Palmer Young, Corvallis, Oregon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 1962 at 2 p.m. in Simon-Lounsbury Funeral Chapel, Eugene Lodge No. 11, A.F.&A.M. officiating. Commitment in Rest Haven Columbarium.
