Matthias Zahniser, was one of Mercer County's early settlers. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1753. He married Mary Lind November 20, 1774. He served in under General George Washington during the Revolutionary War, Co 6, 8 BN, Lancaster County Militia.

Private in the Company of Captain John Miller of the Lancaster County Pennsylvania Militia. Signed the Oath of Allegiance in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Soldiers Mercer County Pennsylvania. Reference J.,A., N.S.S.A.R. Pennsylvania.

In 1789 he and his family and mother removed to Allegheny County., Pennsylvania. They all came to Mercer County from Allegheny County in 1797.

Mathias was born about 1749. He passed away in 1833.

Zahniser-61 and Zahniser-7 appear to represent the same person because: These are undoubtedly the same person. Please do your research and fix what you need to. But this match should proceed.

Zahniser-61 and Zahniser-7 are not ready to be merged because: Some sources need to be provided that show that Mary (Zahniser) McCraken was the daughter of Mathias Zahniser before I would go along with a merge.
