Biography

James Zahnleiter was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

James was born in 1888, the son of Anthony Zahnleiter and Ellen Farley. [1]

James joined the AIF in WW1.

He was killed in action in 1916. Death Notices: ZAHNLEITER.-In loving memory of my dear son and our dear brother, James, killed at Poitieres, also Philip, killed at Gallipoli. The world is rolling Freedom's way, Take heart - who bear the Crown to-day Shall wear the Crown to-morrow. Brothers reunited.. - Inserted by their sorrowing mother, sisters, and brother. ZAHNLEITER.-In loving memory of Private J. Zahnleiter, who fell at Potiers, 25th July. 1916. Peace, perfect peace.[2]
