Gottlieb Zaugg was born March 19, 1846 at Steffisburg, Bern, Switzerland to Jakob Zaugg and Catharina Huber.ref>[1][2]
Gottlieb was the youngest of many children.
Place of origin (Heimatort): Trub, Bern.
"Schweiz Taufen, 1491-1940", [3]He was christened on 3 April 1846.

In 1906, Gottlieb and wife Anna were living at Lyman, South Dakota. A review of all images under the surname Zaugg (3411 to 3420) identified the following living at 28-<101-71, PO Iona, Lyman County[4]:
