Biography

Elisabetha "Elsa" Maria Zehrung was baptized 19 Oct 1704 to Christofel Zehrung and his wife Anna Elisabeth "Elsa", née Habel of Ritzhausen, parisch of Marienberg in the district of Beilstein, Principality of Nassau-Oranien (now Bad Marienberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany). The entry reads:

[1704] Dom. 22 post Trin.: Christofel Zehrung, Elsa Eheleut zu Ritzhausen ein junge Tochter taufen lasen, Gevattern Christofel Lupp zum Fehl junger Gesell; und Elsa, Johannes Habels Tochter zum Pfuhl. [1]
Translation: "On the 22nd Sunday after Trinity 1704 (= October 19th) was baptized the little daughter of Christofel Zehrung and his wife Elsa of Ritzhausen. Godparents were: the bachelor Christofel Lupp of Fehl; and Elsa, the daughter of Johannes Habel of Pfuhl."

Marriage: She married 28 Nov 1727 in Marienberg Johann Martin Buchner of Unnau. The entry reads:

[1727] Dom. 20. Trin. proclamirt; den 28. Nov. cop.: Joh. Martin Buchner, Joh. Bäst Buchners ehel. S. zu Unnau; und Elsa Marie, Christofel Zehrungs nachgel. ehel. Tochter zu Ritzhausen. [2]
Translation: "On the 20th Sunday after Trinity 1727 (= October 26th) got proclamed and married on Novembern 28th: Johann Martin Buchner, legitimate son of Johann Bäst Buchner of Unnau; and Elsa Marie, legitimate daughter of the late Christofel Zehrung of Ritzhausen."

Johann Martin Buchner and his whole family emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1753. They left their home village and made their way to Rotterdam, Holland, together with a group of likeminded friends and relatives. They departed on bord the Snow "Rowand" under the command of Capt. Arthur Tran, and after a stop at the port of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, England, crossed the Atlantic Ocean and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 29th 1753. [3] [4]

Life in the new world

She passed away about 1780. She is buried Hunstville Cemetery. Huntsville NJ USA. Sussex Co.
