Mathias Zettler was a Georgia colonist.

He was a Salzburger living in Ebenezer 1738-1739 and was a young and single man. [1] .[2] He did not come into Ebenezer through Transports, but through the Georgia Grant, those who could pay their own way received a grant of up to five hundred acres, the maximum allowed in the colony, as one of the colonies’ purposes was to counter large landholders and speculation of property [3]

Family

As stated in Georgia Salzburger and Allied families, Mathias was a Salzburger meaning he was an Evangelical Lutheran and had invested his money into the Georgian Salzburger Community.

He married Catherina Kieffer and they had 7 children :[2]

Burial

Church records don't say much, Matthew Zettler died February 3, 1769, and was buried the next day. Presumably he was buried on Church grounds (Ebenezer Church, St. Mathews Parish, Georgia). [4] [2]

Notes

Birth date of 28 March 1723 needs source. Birth date was estimated as 1720 based on Mathias being able to emigrate as a single man. Birth date and date of arrival need researching.
Was the date of birth from Family Records? in which case, we can easily change that to something more general...
how do we find the ship he was on? or begin exploring possibilities? He was THERE between 1738-39.
Can we find the plats and their assignations? that would focus the date better amongst other pieces of information.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mathias by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mathias:
