Biography

Flag of Prussia
Karl (Zimmermann) Zimmerman migrated from Prussia to United States.
Flag of United States

Karl is the son of Ferd Zimmermann and Louisa Kleber. He was occupied as a cooper in 1900 (as were his father and brothers) and still living with his father Ferd and sister Mary in Peoria on the 1920 census. He was a farmer in Manistee County, Michigan on the 1930 and 1940 Federal Census pages. That was his final home. Karl never married nor had children.

The Birth, Baptismal and Death records from Germany are often confusing for the American born and educated in the US. The naming conventions include more formally "given" names and "nicknames" than expected. This child seems to have been christened on May 19th, 1872 and may have had a stillborn twin on the 16th.
