Biography
Caritina Zulaica in Villaldama, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on 5 October 1894 to Francisco Zulaica and Maria Andrea de Leon. She married Tomas Cantu on 19 January 1912 in Villaldama, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.[1] They immigrated in 1919.[2] Caritina died in Corpus Christi, Texas on 14 October 1982.[3]
Obituary
Caritina Z. Cantu, 88, of 2209 Sarita, passed away Wednesday night In a local nursing home.
She was born In Villadama, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and had lived in Corpus Christi since 1935. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cantu, Sr., who was a wholesale grocer-merchant in the Corpus Christi area. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Daughters, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Gilbert, Henry, and Thomas Z. Cantu Jr., all of Corpus Christi; four daughters, Mrs. Carlota Wilson, Mr. Esperanza C. Gutierrez, Mrs. Aurora Z. Cantu, and Mrs. Kay C. Martinez, all of Corpus Christi; one brother Celso Zulaica, Villadama, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the Clifford Jackson Funeral Home Chapel on Kostoryz Road. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
