DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Arnold or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Arnold:

Hi Arnold, 😊

I’ve noticed that you seem to have South African Roots like me, may I give you some tips for South African research?

In South African research we have a few quirks and rules ~ a particular one is to please use the correct Country Name as was used at the time of the event. Another one is Name fields on profiles.

Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project? Besides links to sources, there are help pages that might also be useful. Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eighteenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources. A few handy links:

Hello Arnold,

You are now a Family Member! I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do, as it is a lot of fun and there are tons of great people collaborating.

We are so happy to have you here in the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

Happy tree climbing!

Hi Ludwig.

Thank you very much for the quick and friendly response!

I cannot fully complete my registration re the DNA-Y test because the system reads me as a woman.

If Wikiteee is connected to Geni then it might be part of the problem, as I cannot access my Geni account due to a "Eva Luther" that is now showing ip on my page.

Tnx. Arnold

Hi Arnold,

Ludwig is not on duty now but I can help! Right now your profile is showing as neither male nor female. To edit your profile, log in to WikiTree and go to your profile page and click on the edit tab; be sure to save when you are done. WikiTree is not connected to Geni.

As a guest, you are welcome to search the database and use the Genealogist to Genealogist (G2G) forum for research. For research help, probably the best way to find others searching for your family is the G2G forum. There you could create a new post to introduce yourself and tell others about your quest.

To add your family and make the most of your DNA test results, you will want to upgrade your account to Family Member (it is free). There is a link on your profile under your name, next to “Guest Member” or use this link to upgrade. Just answer the five questions and click on the green box that says "Upgrade”.
