After his marriage Joseph and his wife resided in Wheal Hope from the time of his eldest daughter's baptism until his death.
Joseph Symons died on 18 December 1838, at the age of 27 after accidentally falling into a Shaft in the Wheal Julia Mine Crowan, Cornwall he was residing at Wheal Hope at the time.[3] Joseph was buried on 21 December 1838 in Gwinear, Cornwall, England.[4]

Joseph (Simons) Symons, son of Nicholas & Mary, was baptised on 11 January 1812 in Camborne, Cornwall, England.[6] We know that Joseph is the husband of Eleanor Michell as after his death his widow can be found living with his mother Mary Simons in the 1841 census, in Gwinear, Cornwall, England.[7]
