Rites Held Jan. 27 For A. Alvarez. Burial services for Albert M. Alvarez, 49, were held at 5 p.m. January 26 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Rev. Richard Calmus officiating. Mass was at 7 p.m. January 26 at the church.
Mr. Alvarez died January 21 in a two-car accident on IH 10 near the Wilmot Road interchange. Mr. Alvarez was born July 12, 1920 in Mexico. He had lived in this area for 22 years and worked as a construction worker. He formerly worked 13 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Laborers Union Local #479 of Tucson, and of the Benson Alianza Club.
Mr. Alvarez is survived by his widow, Maria Gloria; five sons, Jose, Cruz, Tony, Tommy and Carmelito, all of Benson; three daughters, Maxine, Kathleen and Angie, all of Benson; brother Cruz Alvarez of Mexico; and one grandchild.
Burial was in Benson Cemetery. Benson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
