Toirdhealbhach Ua Cearbhalláin (1670 – 25 March 1738) was a blind harper, composer, poet and singer in Ireland, who is remembered as "the Last of the Irish Bards".

Toirdhealbhach Ua Cearbhalláin (rendered in modern Irish as Toirdhealbhach Ó Cearbhalláin, anglicised usually as Turlough O'Carolan, and sometimes as Terence Carolan) was born in 1670[1][2][3][4][5][6] near Nobber, County Meath[1][2][3][4][5] (or alternatively in Newtown, County Westmeath[6]). His father John was a small farmer[1][5][6] and/or a blacksmith.[1][2][4][5]

He married Mary Maguire of County Fermanagh in 1720;[1][2][3][4][5][6] they had seven children.[1][3][4][5]

He passed away on the 25th March 1738[1][2][3][4][5][6] in Alderford House, Ballyfarnon, County Roscommon[1][2] and was interred in the MacDermott Roe family crypt at Kilronan Abbey.[4][5][7]
