Carolina left home and moved to Gistad parish in 1889. The same year, she had a daughter, Ester. In the next 4 years, she had two more children, Sigrid Karolina and Carl Ejnar. All three children passed away in early childhood. After the death of her children she moved back to Askeby parish where she lived with her parents. Her mother was in poor health at the time, according to household records. In 1896, after the death of her mother, Carolina moved to Linköping. In 1898, Carolina's father passed away.
Emigration
Carolina emigrated to the US in 1899, leaving Linköping on June 3 and arriving at Ellis Island on July 20. Her residence was recorded as St Lars (her home parish in Linköping) and she traveled on the Majestic, departing from Liverpool. Her arrival contact was listed as her uncle, F Lundell and her final destination as Ione, Oregon. [1]
