The surname in Polish is Żarnowska for females and Żarnowski for males. The first letter Ż is different from Z in English. But as immigrants got farther away from their cultural roots, simple Zarnowski was often used for both men and women.
Helen was born about 1919. She was the daughter of Alexander Żarnowski and Stella Gustav.
Did the middle initial S. actually stand for anything? It might be Stella, or Stefania, or Stanisława, or something else.
She passed away in 2005.
